How does EMDR transform traumatic memories that formed you?

When a child has a severe trauma, like losing a parent at a young age, what comes up when they become an adult who is thinking of connecting is that young perspective--"if I connect, attach, I'll lose them."

Most people have one problem that has dogged them their whole life--something that was formed by trauma.  The essential piece to resolving that problem is being able to bring the adult perspective to that traumatic memory.

The most amazing thing for me as an EMDR therapist is that in nearly every session, people find some new capacity in themselves and walk out feeling hopeful in a way they haven't in their whole adult lives.
