Why do therapists need to learn EMDR?
EMDR is the most effective treatment for resolving memories that were stored in a traumatic form--quickly. Many talk therapists do wonderful work, but when it comes to metabolizing the images, thoughts, feelings and body sensations of trauma, talking about them is not going to resolve them. In fact it may just stir them up, leaving you more upset. This is why I believe all new therapists should be trained in EMDR. It is just too good a tool to leave out of your tool bag.
